WAEC Liberia Releases 2022/2023 Results with 94.06% making a successful passed.

Monrovia: The West African Examination Council has released results of 2022/2023 Academic year for Senior Students in Liberia. Speaking at the Press conference Tuesday August 22, 2023, the head of WAEC Liberia Mr. Dale D. Gboto said his institution received entries for the 2022/2023 WASSCE Exam through an online registry indicating that the total number of candidates who sat the test was 49,842 ranging from 720 Schools across Liberia.


According to Director Gboto out of the 720 Schools that register candidates for the 2022/2023 National Exam were 17,104 male candidates and 18,149 females candidates bringing to 35, 253 from private schools, while 7,734 male candidates and 6,855 famale candidates amounting to 14,589 candidates from public schools across the country. Gboto further mentions that during the entry period schools authorities are required to submit the bio-data, photo, and subjects to be taken by their candidates as well as the school grades, he said during the entry period for 2023 series of examination for school candidates the secretariat warned Schools that effective 2023 Schools submitting non- human images for their candidates will have the entire results for those institutions being canceled.


The WAEC Boss also said his team had some challenges in transporting the test to other counties in Liberia, adding that his office spend over US$ 15,000 to charter a domestic flight for a single day to airlift the examination materials to Southeastern Liberia.


At the same time Mr. Dale D. Gboto acknowledged that 1,799 candidates results were withheld for involvement in four types of Examination malpractice that includes: Insult/ Assault on examination workers, Foreign Materials, Others Irregular actives and among others.
Meanwhile Director Gboto noted that 49,383 candidates sat the test, 46,448 candidates made a successful pass, noting that with the number of candidates that made the successful pass it’s amounted to 94.06%, while 2,935 candidates failed.

He however added that three candidates from the 49,383 candidates that sat the exam came as overall best candidates, namely:
Saygarn, Desire E., Cooper, Priscilla L., and Zayzay, Landford.
Speaking on behalf of the government of Liberia, education minister D. Ansue Sonnie lauded WAEC Liberia for their work towards the educational sectors of the Country adding that the national exam is a way of testing how prepared are senior students for higher education.
The Liberia educational Minister further asserted that the government will remind committed in making sure that citizens of the country is educated, which according to Minister Sonnie, the president will do everything possible to offer better education. He however worned Schools owner and schools administration not to increase the payment of graduation fees, according to Minister Sonnie any school caught in the acts of graduation fees increasement will be fine in accordance with the ministry of education policy.
