Mixed views and opinions continue to pour in following a statement by Montserrado County District Nine Representative Frank Saah Foko threatening to burn down the chambers of the House of Representatives.

The statement which has been greeted with huge Public attention has also been characterized with diverse reactions from the public.

Among other things, the District number nine Representative accused his colleagues of allegedly failing to hold the Executive accountable as part of their oversight responsibilities.

His Public outburst came when the House of Representatives alledgelly failed to take a decision against the Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company, Amos Tweh.

Tweh, a senior Member of the ruling establishment and heads a strategic government funtionary, the LPRC, Representative Foko disclosed tempered with the law when he (Tweh) alledgelly took money without any legal authorization and the Legislature he stated did not take any action, “this is complete compromise “, he re-emphasized.

These guys are compromised , they are criminals , who are the Liberian people depending on now?, he wondered and blasted .

Describing his colleagues as nincompoops, The District Nine Lawmaker stressed that the failure and inability on the part of the House to hold the Executive accountable is a sad day for the Country especially the people whom they represent.

Foko, an opposition Lawmaker statement was embraced by some Liberians who indicated that he was speaking in their interest while others had a different and decending views and opinions on the issue.

“We need more Lawmakers like Representative Foko to speak the truth event if it will affect him”, one of them noted.

They argued that why Lawmakers will have their oversight responsibilities to checkmate and hold members in the Executive accountable as part of good and best practices but failed to do so .

“If the Lawmakers are compromised than our democracy is under attack and we the people are the loosers “, the added.

However, another group of people considered Foko’s statement as political and more personal.

” Had they not been affected directly, he would not have spoken”, this is a pretence and bad politicking “, another Liberian blasted.

According to them, they want their Lawmakers to be sincere to they that elected them and not to speak on issue only when it affects them.

Representative Foko maybe right but his choice of words were harsh, he needs to be careful on how he addresses his fellow colleagues, they are all Honorable people and deserve equal respect even if one is angry or maybe injured due to their individual issues or differences”, another Liberian told our reporter during a vox pop interview.

The CDC’s Lawmaker reaction in plenary also came after day one protest from some Lawmakers on the Executive’s alleged failure to make available their benefits unlike the Liberian Senate.

“We are joking with this issue but it is called Legislative discrimination and the public needs to know in order for the Executive to do the right thing”, Sumo Mulbah, Montserrado County District three Representative stated.

Meanwhile, Foko’s Outburst which has so far generated big Public reaction and debate is still yet to addressed as the issue of holding the Executive accountable by the Legislature remains unresolved .
