IWPG Hosts 2025 International Branch Annual General Meeting

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), led by Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon, held its 2025 International Branch Annual General Meeting on January 21, 2025, at the Daegu Joongang Convention Center. This event celebrated IWPG’s achievements in 2024 and unveiled its vision and strategic roadmap for 2025. A total of 110 branches from Korea and around the world participated.

The gathering brought together approximately 600 participants, including IWPG members, staff, advisors, publicity ambassadors, and peace committee representatives. Both in-person and online attendees witnessed awards being presented to outstanding branches for their achievements in various sectors. Key recognitions included:

•New Member Recruitment: Cheonan (Korea) and Mongolia

•Peace Committee Establishment: Jeongeup (Korea) and Mongolia

•Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE): Colombia

•Media Coverage: Yeosu (Korea) and Indonesia

•MOU/A Signing: East Busan (Korea) and Mongolia

•Peace Monument Establishment: Philippines

•CMS Membership Growth: Geojae (Korea)

•Staff Growth: Gimhae (Korea) and Uganda

The event also featured the introduction of new branch managers for 2024 and case presentations from some of the most active branches.

Global Region 9 received the prestigious award for Most Excellent Global Region, with special recognition given to the Ulaanbaatar Branch in Mongolia for its exceptional growth. Director of Global Region 9, Ms. Misook Lim, expressed her gratitude:

“I am thrilled that our efforts have yielded such meaningful results. We are committed to continued growth, not only in Mongolia but across the globe.”

Daegu Metropolitan City Mayor Hong Joon-pyo conveyed his congratulations in a message, stating:

“Since its inception in 2013, IWPG’s accomplishments have been a cornerstone for advancing women’s rights and fostering global peace and stability. I hope women’s solidarity will propel humanity toward a peaceful world, amplifying IWPG’s influence on a global scale.”

Chairwoman Hyunsook Yoon highlighted IWPG’s initiatives from 2024, including partnerships with government ministries and NGOs, as well as the successful launch of peace education programs in Côte d’Ivoire. She noted the growing popularity of IWPG Women’s Peace Education in Fiji and Mexico, where online platforms have attracted hundreds of participants.

 

She remarked:

“We are a group of women dedicated to achieving the peace our world urgently needs. This is more than rhetoric—it is our responsibility to act. Let us remain steadfast and illuminate the world with peace, overcoming every obstacle to achieve sustainable peace.”

Operating 114 branches in 123 countries and partnering with 808 organizations in 66 countries, IWPG strives to achieve sustainable world peace. Its core activities include building peace networks, promoting a culture of peace, conducting women’s peace education, and supporting the legislation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
