InfoQuest Liberia Ends One Day Meeting With Delegation From The Irish Embassy In Monrovia

Simon McCormack Deputy Head of Mission of Irish Embassy Near Monrovia and Godo E. Kolubah , Governance Advisor respectively paid a one day official visit at the Head office of InfoQuest Liberia located on the Old Road, Tokpah Camp Community.

In an organized and conducive gathering, the Executive Director of InfoQuest Liberia Matthias Yeanay warmly welcomed the two officials from the Embassy of Ireland to Liberia.

 

In his opening remarks, Mr. Yeanay highlighted the pivotal role played by InfoQuest Liberia to the democratic space of the Country.

He explained that they have made significant gains through their advocacy for the passgae of the Local Government Ministry.

” Currently, the bill following submission by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has reached the National Legislature and is expected to be put on the floor for discussion soon, this is a plus for us “, he told his visiting guests.

 

As part of InfoQuest Liberia advocacy, Mr. Yeanay indicated that a massive progress has also been made towards the Revenue Sharing Law Regulations.

Moreover, he emphasized the commitments made by some influential lawmakers at the National Legislature to ensure the subsequent passage of the Local Government Ministry.

“We now have Legislative champions who are also leading the advocacy campaign with their colleagues , explaining the importance of the bill and need for its speedy passage “, he told the Irish Embassy Delegation to Liberia during their one day visit.

 

InfoQuest Liberia Matthias said remains firmed on their focus to promote participatory Governance and social transparency.

The impact driven organization that has so far changed the dynamics through its work and advocacy continues to campaign constructive dialogues and activities in a drive to influence Public decisions.

He named a few other pending and ongoing projects as: A project to focus on the Climate change and the environment, Transparency and good governance, Decentralization and fiscal transparency among others.

The InfoQuest Liberia Boss at the same time pledged and recommitted his institution’s openness to work and cooperate with the Irish Embassy accredited near Monrovia.

Mr. Yeanay who also commended the Irish Embassy Delegation for its support through the UNDP for its ongoing project, reemphasized the need for more sustainable support in order to help enhance its work as well as upcoming projects respectively.

 

In response , the Deputy Head of Mission of the Irish Embassy Simon McCormack hailed InfoQuest Liberia for the overwhelming welcome and hospitality accorded he and his team member.

 

McCormack flanked by his Governance Advisor Godo Kolubah said they were thrilled with the impressive work done by Infoquest Liberia over the short period of time.

“We are so impressed and encouraged you to do more to make an impact in the larger society “, they added.

 

Both Simon and Godo named some focus of their upcoming five years projects and or strategies as; Issues around Governance, Health and Nutrition and promoting the rights of women and girls.

They added a new component of their project or strategy on climate change , elections among others.

 

They at the same time pledged their willingness to work with InfoQuest Liberia especially under some of its new strategies for the next five years.

The Deputy Head of Mission then disclosed the arrival for the first of its kind in Liberia, the Irish Resident Ambassador or Head of Mission to Liberia next Month.

Currently, the Mission Head is in neighboring Sierra Leone but will soon be a resident in Liberia and this will help further skill up our programs “, he assured InfoQuest Liberia.

 

” We are moving gradually and whenever we go somewhere, we remain there for good”, he added.

 

Meanwhile the fruitful and rewarding meeting according to the InfoQuest Liberia Executive Director ended with a brief tour of the facility of InfoQuest Liberia as the Irish Delegation were full of praise, well pleased and satisfied as a result of the good and calssical setup at InfoQuest Liberia including its impressive work done over the period.
