The Ministry of Financial and Development Planning has taken a drastic action on one of its senior managers K. Massayan Sorsor following a social media video in which Mr.
Sorsor was seen assaulting an elderly man.

The disturbing video which did not only embarrassed the Ministry but the government in general especially on how some of its public officials allegedly used public offices to abuse innocent people swiftly instructed the Human Resource and legal units at the Ministry to launch a prompt investigation into the matter.

Following the in house initial investigation, The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) placed K. Massayan Sorsor on Compulsory Administrative Leave and Forwarded Him to the Office of the Ombudsman for further Investigation.

At the same time, Both units have accordingly advised that the relevant section of the Code of Conduct that relates to Mr. Sorsor’s action is Section 4.3, which states: “All public officials and employees of government shall exhibit good conduct at all times, both at work and off-duty…”

Additionally, The Senior Management endorsed the recommendation of the units to forward the case involving Massayan Sorsor to the Office of the Ombudsman, which is authorised by law to investigate allegation of bridges of the Code of Conduct and determine appropriate sanctions and penalties, where necessary.

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning emphasizes that all officials and employees are expected to demonstrate good conduct both at work and off duty and urges all its public officials and civil servants to avoid actions that bring reputational damage to the Ministry and government in general.

According to the victim only identified as PA. Gayflor, Mr. Sorsor’s action in his words was intentional as such demand justice for violating his fundamental human rights.

Narrating the situation, he stated that he help kept Director Sorsor’s things when he was building his house but surprisingly to him Mr. Sorsor allegedly came to him and said that he has a space between he(PA Gayflor ) and Sorsor’s house but he Pa Gayflor insisted no, this is not true.

“My wife also told him if you say so, than we will call the community people especially the leaders to look into the matter “, he explained.

Following the brief back and forth, PA Gayflor stated that Sorsor as you saw in the video walked to the spot in question where he had already built his fence on the eve of Pa- Gayflor’s house and while talking slapped he PA Gaylor in the chest” Saying Take more to court as heard in the video audio in an angry mood”, he noted.

According to the victim he had about 1,695usd in his possession when Mr. Sorsor slapped him and the entire money scattered, I want justice and I want my money back”, he added.

Some residents told our reporters that the land situation between PA Gayflor and Sorsor has been in court for some time but there has been delay in the ruling by the judge due to Sorsor’s alleged connection in the government.

Meanwhile, PA Gayflor who stated that he continue to feel pain in his chest as a result of Sorsor’s slap wants Justice to prevail despite his status in the society.
