President Joseph Nyuma Boakai through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, August 14, 2025 led members of the Cabinet and officials of government to sign the Book of Condolence for former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Hon. Sylvester M. Grigsby honors his legacy and contributions in both the public and private sector across the country.
The signing ceremony, held at the Executive Mansion, brought together a cross-section of dignitaries, current and former government officials, relatives, and friends to honor the legacy and contributions of the late Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Sylvester Grigsby.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai led the signing of the Book of Condolence, followed by his wife, the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Katumu Boakai. They were joined by cabinet members, members of the House of Senate and Representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps.
Hon. Grigsby served the nation in several key capacities, including Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Minister of State without Portfolio, Superintendent of Sinoe County, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The former Minister was born on October 15. 1950 in Sinoe County and died on August 9. 2025 following a protracted period of illness in Houston, Texas.
President Boakai described the passing of the former Minister as an Immeasurable loss of a trusted friend, an astute statesman and a pillar of integritt.
According to him, the former Minister remains one of Liberia’s most influential and enduring public servants, respected for his discipline, intellect, and steadfast service.
In President Boakai words his contributions, from diplomacy to media innovation, have left a lasting impact on Liberia’s public life.
Officially the Book will be open to the public beginning August 15. 2025 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the nation mourns someone who has served the country over two decades.
