President Boakai Hails Unity and Patriotism in Independence Day Message
Brooklyn Park, Minnesota – July 29, 2025 —
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has extended heartfelt gratitude and admiration to Liberians at home and abroad for their spirited participation in this year’s Independence Day celebrations, describing the widespread display of patriotism and unity as a powerful symbol of a new national awakening.
In a special Message of Acknowledgment and Thanks released this week, the Liberian leader said he was moved by the “record-setting enthusiasm” that marked the country’s 178th Independence Anniversary, noting celebrations in cities across the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, Egypt, and beyond.
“These were not mere celebrations,” President Boakai said. “They represented a profound expression of renewed faith, national pride, and a collective commitment to a new Liberia.”
President Boakai said the events surrounding the July 26 celebration sent a deeper message—that Liberians across the world remain united by a common dream: a vision of peace, dignity, and national renewal. “Your voices echoed with love for our homeland and a strong commitment to its progress,” he added.
With an appeal for reconciliation, entrepreneurship, and national service, the President urged all Liberians to seize this moment as a turning point. “The weeks and months ahead must not be ordinary. They must be filled with deliberate actions that bring us closer to reconciliation, that strengthen our economy, and that bring dignity to every Liberian household.”
President Boakai acknowledged the challenges facing the nation, but said he remains committed to leading with integrity and responsibility. “I do not pretend to have all the answers,” he said, “but I remain firmly committed to the path of renewal and sustainable development.”
Addressing the Liberian diaspora specifically, the President reaffirmed their vital role in the country’s growth and announced ongoing efforts to engage them more directly through the strengthening of the Office of Diaspora Affairs and the upcoming National Diaspora Conference scheduled for September in Washington, D.C.
“The skills, experiences, and resources of our diaspora are essential to our development,” he emphasized.
The President also called for nationwide interfaith prayers on Wednesday, July 30, inviting Liberians to gather in worship for the healing, reconciliation, and unity of the nation.
As he concluded his message, President Boakai reiterated his pledge to foster an inclusive Liberia: “A strong, inclusive nation that leaves no one behind, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or creed.”
With renewed optimism, the Liberian leader declared, “Indeed, Liberia is rising—and this is our time.”
