InfoQuest Liberia has praised the House of Representatives for conducting a lawful and orderly election to select a new Speaker.
Matthias Yeanay, Executive Director of InfoQuest, described the move as a positive step that has helped restore democratic order within the legislative body.
He noted that the outcome reflects the growing maturity of Liberia’s democratic governance.
Mr. Yeanay expressed hope that the election will help resolve the recent legislative standoff and allow lawmakers to refocus on serving the interests of the public.
He also called on Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon to prioritize reconciliation among members to foster peace and unity within the House while advancing the people’s agenda.
Yeanay urged legislators to put national interest above personal gain and emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, warning against any breaches of the Constitution.
In conclusion, he highlighted that Koon’s 43 to 26 victory over Musa Bility not only reflects his strong support base but also signifies the majority bloc’s renewed confidence in his leadership.
