The Youth Congress of the ruling Unity party has ended its congress in Nimba County adopting a resolution for progress.

The Youth congress of Unity Party-led government, under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development at the end of the Congress committed itself to accountability, transparency, and youth participation in governance.

They also pledged to decisively lead the charge of ensuring corruption is ruthlessly combated through robust advocacy and police.

In its dozens of recommendations, the youth Congress of the ruling establishment
acknowledges the existing gender disparities within its leadership and commits to implementing targeted programs that will actively encourage female participation and inclusion at all levels in the Youth Congress.

Among other things, The National Youth Congress of the Unity Party highlights the necessity for robust grassroots mobilization strategies that actively engage young people across all electoral districts to ensure sustained civic participation to attract more young people to the party, especially First-Time Voters, through the National Cadets Unit of the Youth Congress.

They at the same time call for an Increased efforts through civic campaigns and engagements to stimulate first-time voters and politically inactive youth to engage in democratic processes.

“To foster youth leadership development within the party, we propose the creation of a permanent Leadership Department for youth development within the Unity Party. This department will, Implement cadet/mentoring programs, workshops, and training sessions tailored for young leaders to give a progressive political orientation of the Evergreen Unity Party, Ensure young people are prepared for political leadership roles at local and national levels and
Provide structured pathways for youth participation in governance, ensuring they contribute meaningfully to the national sustainability of the Unity Party and National Development Agenda of the Republic”, they added.

Moreover, the youth Congress of the UP Commit to actively monitoring government activities and exposing corruption, regardless of party affiliation.

They used the ocassion to call upon President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to swiftly address the General Auditing Commission (GAC) findings on financial mismanagement by the former commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) and all others implicated in corrupt practices,
Announce the immediate launch of an independent investigation by the National Youth Congress into the 56/5,000 corruption scandal at the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) and demand accountability for those responsible”, they noted.

At the same time, they urge the government to take decisive action, expediting corruption cases and mandating that heads of government agencies implement audit recommendations as reported by the General Auditing Commission of Liberia, Holding the Government Accountable for Delivering on Promises Made During the Campaign.

The Youth Congress also pleged that they will remain committed to ensuring that the Unity Party-led government among other things Implements policies that create sustainable job opportunities for young people, Expands educational and vocational training programs to equip youth with employable skills, Strengthens governance structures to promote transparency, accountability, and people-centered leadership.

Meanwhile,.The National Youth Congress serves as the engine of the party, with a responsibility to mobilize, empower, and engage young people in political and socioeconomic activities that contribute to national progress through the ARREST AGENDA for Inclusive Development (AAID) and therefore, more support should be given to the leadership to sustain the efforts rallying the young people around the agenda of the government and the development of the party.
