The President of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention, Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Reeves Jr. has called on Baptists in Liberia to unite and desist from fighting amongst themselves.

Making remarks at the 42nd graduation ceremony of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary, Rev. Reeves encouraged Baptists to work together and avoid undermining each other.

Currently, the Baptist Church now has one of its senior members, Deacon , Joseph Nyuma Boakai as President of Liberia.

Under Deacon, President Boakai’s administration, another senior Baptist, current Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary and former Foreign Minister, Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah Sr. appointment by the ECOWAS Commission was battled against by the Unity Party led Government headed by a Baptist, President Boakai.

This Dr. Reeves said is about time that Baptists support and lift each other up and not to fight each other.

“Baptists, God has given us the second chance, the first was former President William R. Tolbert and now is Deacon, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, let’s take what God has given to us, value and use it in order to transform our nation “, he re-emphasized.

According to him, with unity and togetherness, Baptists will transform theological institutions in Liberia.

Over the last four years, Rev. Reeves told the gathering that a lot has happened for Baptists and he believes with unity , much more will happen for them.

“We are now taking our rightful place at the front of the land, the first school was established by the Baptist, the first medical facility was established by the Baptist and the first premier Theological institution in Liberia was also established by the Baptist and we can do even more once we stop fighting each other and working together “, he reechoed.

He informed the graduates that the degree of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary has no limit to where it can take them.

“Know what you have, Value and use it for the betterment of the society “, he encouraged the graduates.

Dr. Reeves stated that because of the condition of transparency and unity, the Seminary is moving to higher heights adding that the convention has created the atmosphere of unity and transparency , collectibility, where each and every Baptist is value and no one person knows it all.

Speaking on the theme; Facing your challenge, the keynote speaker of the 42nd Graduation ceremony of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary Rev. Dr. Patrick Taylor , Alumni President of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary USA Chapter called on Liberian leaders to take their time and identify what Liberia has, value and utilize it in the interest of the people.

Liberia, he stated has fertile soil within the region, yet it depends on China for rice.

Speaking about value, he pointed out that to know if something is valuable, you will see people coming for it such is the case of Liberia, where more people are coming to Liberia because, the Country is rich and has so much value, the foreigners he added take away the value of the Country, give chicken change and leave the mass majority of the people to suffer.

According to Dr. Taylor, it is about time that Liberian leaders know what the Country has, value and utilize it .

“Use what you have, let your first response of your problem be yourself, your worth is in the value that you bring and you are worth nothing if you bring nothing “, he re-emphasized.

At the same time, he told the graduates that their value is worthless if people can’t benefit from it.

Dr. Taylor urged the 42nd batch of Graduates of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary to use their degree to impact the society, make a difference and don’t follow the popularity of degress, don’t underestimate your degree but use it to make a difference “, he noted.
