President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Thursday July 4, 2024 officially unveiled one hundred consultants .

According to the Director General of the Civil Service Agency, Josiah Joekai, the consultants from specialized professional field of studies were recruited , vetted, satisfied and are now ready to contribute their quota to help bridge the Human Resources gap of the Country.

Speaking at the official unveiling ceremony at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism on Capitol Hill, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai acknowledged the work of the CSA and thanked the leadership of the Civil Service Agency for instituting the consultancy measures for ensuring effective utilization measures for consultancy resources in delivering value for money.

He said with the rigorous process done by the CSA, he is sure that the first batch of consultants with specialization in legal, Human Resource Management and Doctors among others, they will certainly help bridge the human resource gaps noticed in the past in the Country.

“By 2023 last year, the previous administration already hired 1000 so- call consultants, primarily casual laborers who did not significantly contribute to bridging the Human Resource and institutional capacity gap to help advance the government “, he disclosed.

However, the Liberian leader stated that with the National policy guidelines which he launched in April of 2024 including other effective policy measures put in place by the Civil Service Agency, the story will be different unlike before.

He indicated further that his government currently does not have money to retained qualified teachers as such , they will retained those who they have already trained.

“We are also seeking scholarships for all Liberians despite diverse backgrounds because our goals is to improve service delivery and to further strengthen the human resource capacity of our Country”, he added.

Also speaking at the official launching program was the Director General of the CSA, Josiah Joekai who said the gross high human resource capacity gap which were experienced in the past will be close to a large extend especially due to the measures they are putting in place in line with best practices.

He at the same time commended President Boakai for welcoming their budget proposal of 3m for the project, however, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning allocted 1.2 m with a difference of $800,00usd.

Mr. Joekai used the ocassion to appeal to the Liberian leader to see the need to restore the balance 800,000usd in order to ensure that they help recruit more qualified consultants as a means of getting effective and quality service delivery in the public sector.

The CSA boss also buttressed President Boakai’s previous statement that he is confident that with the rigorous screening process done by the special committee before arriving at 100 out of over 200 applicants, he is of the conviction that the current, qualified, professional and experienced experts and consultants are now ready to make the difference in helping to bridge the human resource gap in the Country.
