Liberia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Louise Sharene M. Bailey has presented her letters of credence to the president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zwede.
The Ambassador was well received by the Ethiopian President in the Grand Hall of the presidential palace, where she expressed excitement of being in Ethiopia and conveyed warming greetings from the president of Liberia, Joseph N. Boakai.
She also thanked the president of Ethiopia for accepting her letter of credence and noted that there was a compelling need to accelerate the pace of closer cooperation that will bring benefits to both countries.
The Liberian diplomatic reaffirmed Liberia’s dedication to deepening, strengthening and broadening her ties with Ethiopia.
She praised the relationship between both countries amid the tremendous contributions both countries have made together in promoting Pan-African Spirit through the formulation of the organization of African United (OAU) in the early 1960s.
Ambassador Bailey said the relationship between both countries are long standing and excellent and based on friendship, mutual understanding and common views on many international issues.
During the presentation of her letter of credence, the President of Ethiopia was pleased to receive the Liberian Ambassador, emphasizing how much Ethiopia values the long, historic relationship with Liberia.
The President recounted that the relations between the two countries is significant, highlighting shared values, collaboration, mutual partnership as well as peace and prosperity as key to consolidating the bonds between both countries.
It can be recalled that both countries formalized diplomatic relations in 1958 which led to the historic visit of Emperor Selassie to Liberia in the early 60s. They share unique historical similarities of not being colonized by any colonial power.
Both countries worked tirelessly towards the formation of the then O.A.U to forge a common African solidarity and brotherhood.
