The Executive Director of InfoQuest Liberia Matthias Yeanay in a hospitable mood welcomes the Program and Knowledge Advisor of The Netherlands Institute For Multiparty Democracy Floortje Klijn to his Old Road, Congo Office on June 7, 2024.
The visit, first of its kind was a historic one for both entities.
In a brief statement, InfoQuest Boss, Matthias Yeanay expressed gratitude to the program and knowledge advisor of the Netherlands Institute Of Multiparty Democracy.
Providing more insights about his institution’s work, Mr. Yeanay told Madam Klijn that InfoQuest Liberia remains one of the best and most reliable Civil Society organizations in Liberia that continues to champion the advocacy for good governance, transparency, and accountability across the Country.
The research policy advocacy and social impact organization, he told his partner is currently intensifying its advocacy and engagement with key stakeholders, including the National Legislature, to ensure the full passage into law of the Ministry of Local Government (MOLG) bill and Revenue Sharing Law Regulations.
He indicated further that his organization is willing and open to partnering with The Netherlands Institute For Multiparty Democracy in order to accelerate a campaign aimed at strengthening good democratic practices in Liberia.
In a brief response, Madam Klijn thanked InfoQuest Liberia for the warm welcome accorded her and pledged her institution’s commitment to partnering with InfoQuest Liberia.
She acknowledged and commended InfoQuest Liberia for the hard and visible work done by InfoQuest over the period in Liberia.
“I am impressed with the level of work and contribution you are making to
the larger society, please keep it up”, she re-emphasized.
The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD; Dutch: Nederlands Instituut voor Meerpartijendemocratie) works to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive politics worldwide. NIMD’s approach is characterized by dialogue, which it facilitates actors across the political spectrum at the local, national, and regional level.
The organization’s values are based on inclusiveness, pluralism, and equality, and it supports joint initiatives of political parties and other stakeholders to improve the functioning of multiparty democracies around the world.
The institute was founded in 2000 by seven parties across the Dutch political spectrum (CDA, PvdA, VVD, GL, D66, CU, and SGP). Former Ambassador of the Netherlands Ed Kronenburg is Chair of the Supervisory Council of NIMD, replacing former Dutch Minister of Defence.
