The Board of Directors of the Liberia Media Initiative for Transparency and Accountability LIMITA has called on the Liberian Senate to confirm Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr. to the bench of the Supreme Court.
On December 27, Liberia’s outgoing President, George Weah appointed Cllr. Dean, describing his appointment as the best decision for the state.
His appointment was a result of a request the President granted from Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, His Honor Joseph N. Nagbe for an early retirement due to ill health
LIMITA said in a Preas release that in the process of transition, Liberia needs the best on the bench of the Supreme Court; adding that Cllr. Dean has all it takes to occupy such a post, judging from his past and present performances.
“Cllr. Musa Dean Jr. over the past six years of the Weah-led administration has demonstrated competence, capability, and professionalism in discharging his duties as per his function as Minister of Justice of the Republic of Liberia” the release says.
LIMITA says Minister Dean has always stood his ground and has never succumbed to external influence in terms of ensuring that the right thing is done.
“It can be recalled during his tenure as Justice Minister and Attorney General of the Republic of Liberia Cllr. Dean was steadfast in making insightful impact such as; seeking extradition for alleged gun smugglers; unbiased in the dispensation of justice; and issuing a nonrestriction on the enjoyment of constitutional rights” the release added.
It says Cllr. Dean has also been credited for presiding over the Ministry of Justice during the conduct of the just-ended 2023 presidential and general elections which was declared free, fair, and transparent.
Cllr. Frank Musa Dean’s nomination is expected to undergo a thorough review by the Liberian Senate, where his qualifications, achievements, and contributions to the justice sector will be carefully considered before a confirmation decision is reached. If confirmed, Cllr. Dean will bring his wealth of experience and commitment to justice to the highest court in Liberia.
