Speaker Koung Highlights Parliamentary Networking For Sustainable Development at 2025 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges in China
House speaker, Richard Nagbe Koon has emphasized the critical role of parliamentary networks in shaping sustainable development in a rapidly transforming world marked by technological advancement and globalization.
Koung remarked at the ‘2025 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges’ in China.
The forum is being held under the theme, “Building Global Partnership for Joint Advancement of Common and Sustainable Development.”
It brings together esteemed members of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, legislators from across the globe, and other distinguished participants at the event.
The high-level parliamentary meeting aims to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation and sustainable development.
A news release under the signatory of press director at the house, Robert Haynes, quotes speaker Koung as saying, “Our presence here today signifies our unwavering commitment to lasting parliamentary cooperation and a deep sense of shared solidarity in moving the parliamentary agenda forward.”
He underscored the unique role of parliamentary networks in shaping sustainable development – while stressing that building collective efforts based on mutual understanding can effectively drive a unified global legislative agenda.
Koung, according to the release, highlighted China’s historic and contemporary accomplishments, particularly in the Xinjiang Region, and lauded the country’s governance model that emphasizes ethnic unity, cultural preservation, regional prosperity, and long-term development.
“We look forward to more mutual, friendly legislative exchanges that foster peace, cooperation, and sustainable development,” he says.
The Liberian House Speaker extended words of gratitude to the Government and People of China for their continued support to developing countries and reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to strengthening mutual parliamentary relations.
