The Plenary of the House of Representatives has taken significant steps to address crucial national concerns by summoning key government officials for vital information and explanations. Following a communication from Bong County District #3 Representative and Chairman on Rules, Order, and Administration, J. Marvin Cole, several officials have been called to appear before the Plenary.
Those summoned include:
- Mr. James Dorbor Jallah, Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA)
- The Minister of Internal Affairs
- The Minister of Finance & Development Planning, Mr. Boimah Kamara
- The Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), Mr. Amos Tweh
These officials, along with their principal deputies, are expected to provide detailed information on various issues:
- Revenue Collection: The Liberia Revenue Authority is required to deliver comprehensive details regarding the country’s revenue collection.
- Financial Details: The Ministry of Finance & Development Planning must provide information on consolidated accounts and bank balances, and validate any revenue reports from the Liberia Revenue Authority.
- Constitutional Compliance: Both Minister Boimah Kamara and Managing Director Amos Tweh must explain any potential violations of Article 34. (D) III of the Constitution, which prohibits the raising of loans or guarantees for public institutions or authorities without legislative approval.
